Community Involvement
At TUUC, we use a “One Room Schoolhouse” model, which means children of all ages are together for the majority of the time. Our program, Making Faith, focuses on our UU Values, centering love, creativity, and inspiration. For the safety of our students and volunteers, anyone working with the children must be background checked and aware of TUUC’s safety policies.
So, what does this mean for you as a volunteer?
We hope you discover the answer within the relationships you forge with the YRE community. Our program encourages engagement from children, youth, families, and all community members to create the Religious Education program. As a congregation, we have wholeheartedly embraced this concept, with guest leaders and helpers who add dimension and color to the vibrant tapestry of Making Faith.
Making Faith is a nurturing space where profound and authentic relationships flourish. Creating such a space is intrinsic to the realization of the Beloved Community and to raising anti-racist, justice-seeking, soulful, lifelong UUs.
Our program serves children from the time they’re babies through their senior year of high school. The success of our program rests upon volunteers from our church community. Whether you are a parent or not, we need wide participation from the entire church community to meet our spiritual goals for everyone—children, youth, and adult volunteers.
Volunteers are supported by our Director of Religious Education Kara Tyler and the YRE Committee. Join us in play and spiritual exploration!
VOLUNTEER
Youth Religious Education Committee
The YRE Committee is a dedicated group of volunteers who meet monthly to guide, advise, and actively engage with the program. Their work includes gathering input from parents and congregants, organizing youth events, supporting volunteer training, and fostering connections that make our congregation truly intergenerational.
All congregants are welcome to attend YRE Committee meetings whether or not they are official members. Your voice and presence can help us continue building a thriving, inclusive space for our children and their families.
If you’re interested in participating in our YRE Committee, reach out to the current Chair to learn more about joining.
