Children in Worship
We believe that the presence of children enriches our shared experience of worship, and their natural energy is a gift. Nursing infants are welcome to enjoy their meals in comfort, and fidgety kids are free to wiggle, whisper, or move as they need. Our sanctuary is a space for all ages, reflecting the vibrant, inclusive spirit of our faith.
We embrace the sounds and movement of all the people who share in worship, enriching the chorus of the community of community and making this place holy by our presence. A Creation Station by the entrance to the Meeting Room offers:
Small toys like finger puppets, soft animals, and quiet fidgets
Coloring sheets with crayons or colored pencils
There is also open space in the foyer (with service audio) where anyone can enjoy the service while honoring their wiggles.
Multigenerational Services
Throughout the year, we offer Multigenerational Services, where children, youth, and adults come together in shared worship. Including children creates a community where even the youngest of us feel seen and valued, instilling a sense of pride and belonging while exposing them to the full breadth of our UU faith and traditions.
Multigenerational worship enriches the entire congregation. It nurtures a sense of belonging and community across generations. By worshiping together, we embody the interconnectedness at the heart of our faith, modeling a world where everyone’s voice and presence matter.
We look forward to more events that will similarly unite the congregation. Some of these services are included below.
Water Communion
The Water Communion is a ritual celebrated at the start of a new church year to symbolize community and interconnection. Congregants bring small containers of water from places significant to them, from travels, nature, or their own homes, and pour them into a communal vessel. This act represents the merging of individuals into a collective spiritual community. The ceremony highlights UU values of interconnection, pluralism, and our collective responsibility to our Earth.
Christmas Eve
Each year, the Director of Religious Education and Reverend Clare Petersberger collaborate to create a meaningful, family-oriented Christmas Eve service. This special celebration acknowledges the sacred story of Jesus’ birth and weaves together heartfelt worship elements, beautiful music, and a fun no-rehearsal play. The result is a warm and inclusive experience that brings people of all ages together in the spirit of love, wonder, and community.
Easter
Each year, we come together for an Easter service, celebrating renewal, hope, and the beauty of spring. This special service brings all ages into shared worship with inspiring music, engaging stories, and meaningful rituals that honor the season’s themes of growth and new beginnings. After service, the celebration continues with an Easter Egg Hunt, spreading laughter and delight as our youngest members explore and play amidst the blossoming beauty of our church grounds.
