TUUC Committees

ADULT RELIGIOUS EXPLORATION COMMITTEE: In coordination with the DRE and other committees organizes and promotes religious exploration on various topics for adults to stimulate and enhance spiritual growth, faith formation, and personal development.
AUCTION COMMITTEE: Organizes and executes an annual auction of donated services, social activities, and goods in a setting to promote fellowship. The Auction is held in mid November each year. Work begins in August and ends in mid December.
AUDIO COMMITTEE: Develops, maintains, and operates the sound enhancing and recording systems used during services and other events. Proposes purchase of additional equipment as needed to the Operations Team.
BOOK NOOK COMMITTEE: Sells contemporary and classic literature donated by members and friends of TUUC, the proceeds of which benefit TUUC in full or part.
CARING COMMITTEE: Assists the Minister in providing support to members and friends in need of special care, e.g., ill, housebound, hospitalized or convalescing. Assists in organizing receptions for memorial services and other special services as needed.
COMMUNICATIONS COMMITTEE: Coordinates TUUC’s internal and external communications and oversees TUUC’s website maintenance and social media presence.
GALLERY UNICORN: Organizes and promotes art exhibits in the main meeting room of the Church by outside artists, with a yearly member and friend exhibit. A percentage of the sales go to TUUC.
GREEN SANCTUARY COMMITTEE: Recommends environmentally sustainable practices for TUUC building and grounds, including waste minimization efforts, policies to promote consideration of environmental impacts in purchasing decisions, and initiatives to improve the habitat quality and decrease runoff on the property. Engages in activities in the greater community that promote environmental stewardship.
GREETERS TEAM: Greets visitors, members and friends before worship services, provides visitors with information on TUUC, and follows up with visitors.
HOUSE & GROUNDS COMMITTEE: Sees to the care and maintenance of both the grounds and the building, organizes work parties, and identifies needed improvements and makes recommendations to the Operations Team.
HOSPITALITY COMMITTEE: Prepares and serves coffee, tea, and cookies after Sunday services. May be called on to assist other events, such as congregational meetings. Keeps kitchen cabinets stocked with necessary supplies for coffee hour and all other events.
LAY WORSHIP ASSOCIATES COMMITTEE: Assists the Minister with creating services centered on monthly themes. Plans and conducts Sunday morning services once a month during the regular church year and creates a full program during the summer. On these Sundays, the committee members are responsible for coordinating all facets of the program.
MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE: Coordinates greeters for Sunday services and tracks visitor trends, integrates new Members through such activities as New Member Dinners, Orientations, and New Member Ceremonies; maintains up-to-date records on all members, friends, and visitors, and acts as a resource for all members and friends.
MUSIC COMMITTEE: Provides oversight of the musical aspects of the Sunday services and other special programs to ensure that the musical needs of the Minister and the congregation are met. Consults with and supports the Music Director.
SOCIAL ACTION COMMITTEE: Focuses the attention of the congregation on local, national and/or international social issues. Provides social action activities/opportunities. Creates a calendar of social action events. Raises funds for selected causes. The Social Action Committee meets every 2nd Sunday during the regular church year (September through May) between services.
STEWARDSHIP COMMITTEE: Plans, organizes, and conducts a canvass of all members and friends to secure pledges of financial support for the operation of the Church.
USHERS TEAM: Act as host at Sunday services. Counts attendance at each service. Takes the collection.
YOUTH RELIGIOUS EDUCATION COMMITTEE: Sets forth and implements educational activities for Youth Religious Education from Nursery through Grade 12, supporting our children in their development of a personal faith. Sets policy on enrollment, behavior expectations, parent participation, class structure, etc. The committee meets monthly.
