TUUC offers a variety of interest groups and activities that are open to everyone, visitor, member or friend. We encourage everyone to join -- maybe lead! -- one or more groups or activities to deepen the bonds of community. For more information on our groups, please fill out the form at the bottom of the page and one of our staff members will reach out to you. Click here for information on meeting dates/times. Many of the group meetings are held virtually.

Aging Together meets the second and fourth Tuesday starting September 20, 2022, of each month from 1:00 to 2:00ish pm to discuss issues, share resources (educational opportunities, professional articles in the aging field, health care alerts, helpful adaptive aids to make life easier as we age, etc.), and share personal experiences and philosophy related to the aging process. All ages are welcome. Meetings are held virtually.

Book Group - Do you love books? Do others have the same opinion or perhaps another insight into a particular title? Do you want to meet other TUUC members? Join the TUUC Book Group monthly discussions by checking the Threshold each week for the date, time and online information to join the discussion. We usually read novels, mostly current, sometimes a classic and occasionally non-fiction. Current meetings happen virtually the fourth Wednesday of the month at 7:30 pm. Our next discussion link is here.

Cabin Fever is an online group for movie lovers that involves weekly discussions over Zoom. Grab some popcorn and join the conversation! Email churchoffice@towsonuuc.org to be added to our mailing list and receive Zoom meeting information. Click here for more information on this month’s films!

Common Read This year, the TUUC Common Read is a three-book series about racial injustice. You are welcome to read any/all of the books and attend any/all of the meetings. Click here for more information.

Drum Circle is a dedicated group of musicians who share an interest in ethnic drumming, hand percussion, and the spiritual aspects of rhythmic interaction. Meetings range from free-form jams to professionally run workshops. No experience is necessary to join, and you don’t have to own your own drum. For more information, contact Music Director Tracy Hall or sign up below.

Ethnic Lunch Group meets virtually for lunch and conversation over various cuisines of the world, offered right here in Baltimore.  All are welcome, but participants must email Ethniclunch@towsonuuc.org for meeting information. Look in the weekly Threshold for information on the next lunch.

IMPROV Group is a great way to relieve stress, improve concentration, build confidence, and create connection while having a lot of fun.  You don’t have to be an actor or comedian. You just have to be breathing.  The Improv Group meets nearly every Wednesday night from 7:00 to 9:00 pm.

Men’s Brunch Group meets at Cafe Edenwald on the 1st Thursday of each month at 11:30 am.

Men’s Reflection Group offers an opportunity for men to reflect on aspects and adventures in their lives. Meets first and third Tuesdays at 7:30 pm.

Roots and Wings CUUPs: RAWC is TUUC’s non-denominational pagan practice group. A chapter of the national Covenant of Unitarian Universalist Pagans, RAWC celebrates the wheel of the year by conducting rituals on the equinoxes, solstices, full moons and major pagan holy days, like Beltane, Samhain and Yule. All are welcome whether a lifelong pagan or just interested in learning more about Earth-centered spirituality.

Singles Fellowship Group offers an atmosphere for fellowship and friendship among TUUC single adults.  The group’s current age range is mostly over 60, but anyone is welcome to participate.  The group meets for a potluck on one of the Saturdays each month at 6 PM.   The date each month is decided by what else is going on that month. Potlucks are usually held at the church, and sometimes hosted at one of our homes.

Socrates Café is a group of seekers of truth that meet virtually every third Monday, from 7:30-9:00 pm. We check in, and then we begin probing a perplexing question, such as “Who am I?” or “What is insanity?” from all angles. Members of the group select the question to be explored for Socratic discourse.  We welcome one and all who love to ask questions, as did Socrates, and who view philosophy as spiritual, as a way of living, as something that all of us can do.

“Questions often reveal more about us and the world around us than do the answers,” says Christopher Phillips, author of Socrates Café:  A Fresh Taste of Philosophy. To join us, send an e-mail to socratescafe@towsonuuc.org and you will be added to our e-mail list. As Polonius says in Hamlet, “to thine own self be true…” Our Socrates Café mantra is the Delphic Oracle: “Know thyself.”  Namaste!

Soul Matters Sharing Circle are small groups that meet to explore our spiritual theme of the month in greater depth by fostering circles of trust and deep listening. Each participant is provided with a packet which includes exercises to experience the theme of the month and not just analyze the theme. In addition, each packet includes questions to walk with and not talk through. Participants bring their life story as a way to answer the question. There are additional resources in the packet for contemplation and spiritual practice. These are not intended to be stand alone sessions. Instead, participants are asked to commit to attend as many of the eight sessions as possible from September through January. Circles re-open in February through the first week of June. Contact Rev. Clare for more information.

TUUC Choir: TUUC has one choir that performs at Sunday services and special events during the regular church year (September to June).  The choir performs music that crosses a range of genres, including classical, gospel, international, Broadway, pop, folk, and the occasional novelty tune. The Choir rehearses on Thursday nights, and typically sings at two or three services a month. Newcomers are welcome—whether you’ve been performing in choirs all your life or have never sung to anything except your shower curtain, you’re encouraged to give it a try. Speak with Tracy Hall, our music director, or sign up below.

Women’s Lunch Bunch meets at 11:30 am on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at Edenwald.

Writing As A Spiritual Practice - All are welcome to these stand-alone sessions on Zoom. We check-in; light a chalice; listen to a brief reading; and then choose one of several prompts. After writing together for 15 minutes in silence, we are invited to share what we have written. Through this practice we become more present to our own lives and get to know the lives of others at a deeper level. We close with a benediction. The purpose of this group is not perfection it is presence. Join us on one or all of the Friday sessions above! Contact Rev. Clare for more information.
